Derek is a work in progress. He really wants to be a good person, but feels like he always ends up blundering ...or committing faux pas of various degrees of seriousness. Derek is still figuring things out, so he can sometimes be quite easily influenced by others. He tries to maintain a confident facade, but he secretly wishes for someone to connect with.
